Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, Vol. 3 Review

An old enemy returns as Frieren continues her journey north. Decades ago, Frieren and her party defeated a servant of the Demon King called Aura the Guillotine, one of the powerful demons known as the Seven Sages of Destruction. Now Aura is back with a score to settle. But what price did Frieren pay for victory in the past, and how will the choices she made then affect the present?

When action comes, action really serves. It took a couple chapter before we got to see just how powerful Frieren really is. Her simple training of suppressing mana made her almost godlike and that doesn’t even include her capacity to fight and the list of magic she can cast.

We also see the growth of her party – how Fern completely uses the same style of fighting as Frieren (of course she’s her mentor). And Stark’s resilience is absolutely commendable too. It’s quite interesting how, despite his fears and failures, he still looks back to his education with his master Eisen.

Each chapter of this manga does not disappoint at all. I’m impressed by the quality it puts out. It’s inspiring me to continue start reading fantasy novels again. Especially those that I have postponed.
