Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, Vol. 4 Review

The journey continues. With this volume we follow the gang as they recruit Sein to the team and hope to make him their party’s Priest. Additionally, it’s a journey where Frieren will meet with a really old friend, and for the team to participate in a once every three years exam to be a first class mage.

Most of the focus of the initial pages of the book is with Sein – his character story, background, what motivates him, and all that goodness. It was also a treat to see Ferm and Stark as they slowly mature. Clear as it was that they are still far from being an adult, you can see that their adventure changed them, and that they are doing their best to adjust with each other’s personality.

If there was anything that’s shocking, it is how slow Frieden’s character changes. It might be because of her different perception of time but it was quite obvious that despite her life with the Hero Party, she still struggles with human emotions.

There really is a certain allure to this mange. The relaxing nature of it, the chill vibes of the characters, and the great and intense fight sequences are just truly enjoyable. I can’t wait to progress more into the story.
