7 - Beyond The Battle: Frieren’s Story
Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, Vol. 7
Frieren’s participation in the second stage of the First Class Mage Exam showered Serie with doubts about how Sense administered her test. She believed that Frieren, by being a participant, allowed more mages to pass than normal. Soon enough, though, Serie realized how wrong she was.
As the third stage exam takers thin out, wonder and excitement fill you up. You start wracking your head about the full capacity of these mages, and what adventures might await them after the exam. More than that, I’m looking forward to Wirbel’s adventure, Denken’s journey back home, and Methode’s involvement in what’s to come.
This volume reminded me of why I love Frieren. The fight scenes gave readers their much-needed dose of excitement and intrigue with magic, but the story never lacked heart; especially within the humor. Frieren’s love of collecting mundane spells remains one of the things I cherish about her.
The slow-paced adventure here feels like a reprieve, a breath of calm after a tiring situation. It’s as though the story truly brings the reader along with the group. Almost as if you become the human of the party, contributing nothing except your presence.
There is so much to enjoy in Frieren: Remnants of the Departed. This volume proved it can be as relaxing as it is exhilarating. I’m already looking forward to continuing on to the eighth volume.
