Review

I began reading this with a strong desire for a fluffy m/m romance. It did give me that but I was not completely blown away by it.

The story follows two character stories which intertwines as the audiobook progresses. As the title say, each of them are kind of obsessed with someone. Of course, their certain someone were each other — they just had no clue. What I find distasteful of the story is the lack of interaction between the two characters. Without going too much into details, the romance do not happen until the end of the story. Which, to me, is anti-climatic. It could have been paced a little better and events could have been injected well within the story allowing more collision between the two main characters. The focus revolved strongly round the background of each character. It would have been a good idea if this was not a short story. But considering it is, I think no one really expects a fully fleshed out character with a grandiose backstory.

As for the narration, I did not particularly connect with any of the two narrators. I think that their performance were good but it is not something that I would say, “Oh, I’m definitely looking into listening more from this narrator,” kind of moment. As much as I was okay with it, it felt a little flat for me overall.

This was actually an almost DNF read for me. It did not excite me whatsoever half-way through the story; however, I decided to plow through it considering it is quite a simple read as it is in audio. I reached a point where it was a wee cute and I enjoyed those fun part of crushing but it did not change my overall feeling for this audiobook. I was underwhelmed by this, to say the least.
