Books
As this is the primary focus of my blog, I am going to first share my reading progress.
This week, I was able to read quite a number of pages. And here are the ones I was able to squeeze in:
Yagi the Bookshop Goat
Finished this one in a day. It definitely reminded me of why I enjoy reading manga (specifically BL). It was charming, cute, and quick paced. However, it also reminded me on why I try to not overread this sort of content (LOL). More on this with the release of the book’s review. 😉
Young Mungo
My clutch last read for March!
I initially began reading this as a “buddy-read” with Ferddie (@ceruleanthoughts_), but I was so bad at reading it that even though I started it first, he was the one who finished it earlier. Sadly, I haven’t got the time to discuss the book with him yet, but this was definitely a good read!
Murder by Other Means
A recommendation by Ross (@dublin_book_review).
I still blame him for why I re-subscribed wit Audible, and I’m very grateful for that. I have had a new appreciation for audiobooks and they gave me more room to read.
Vile & Blessed
Part of my April Reading Plan.
I am now at 20% into the book, The first chapter of the book was interestingly enchanting for me. I find that it pulls me in and whispers, “read more,” to my ears. There are a number of intrigue within this first percentile and it keeps you enticed with going through the book. So far, my only problem with it is the lack of information—digestive details—on the cultural, magical, or even characteristic aspects of everything (world, story, and characters). Aside from that, I am enjoying the book. It might just be a slow start.
Thank you Emergeant Realms for sending me this copy!
Moi, Simon, 16 ans, Homo Sapiens
My slowest read so far this year.
This book is part of my French practice so it is taking some time to finish. Plus it’s more of a side read than a priority. I am now at 33% with this book.
Language
This is definitely the biggest reason why I wanted to start this weekly blog post. I want to have something that will help myself keep posted on my progress with my language learning journey—which is ridiculously slow.
French
Had my sixth conversational practice with Jean.
If you’re looking to practice your French with someone, he’s definitely highly suggested! He is a very sweet guy, charismatic, and easy to talk to. I found no awkward moments with him, even with our first session.
And yeah, I actually document and upload my sessions with community tutors in my Youtube channel, Wander with Jon, to have a tangible way to see how much I’ve improved in my language learning journey.
Arabic
So far, within the course, I have learned the Arabic letters and some of the short and long vowels. I supplement my studies with some Duolingo here and there to familiarize myself with sounds and Drops for a little bit of vocab practice.
Spanish
With this one, I am just very grateful that plenty of my friends speaks the language. Despite not having the biggest improvement, having someone to talk to is really nice.
I have been skipping quite a lot with my lessons here lately and has only done some Duolingo exercises.
Wellness
Jump Rope
At the start of April, I decided to begin with jumping rope again. I used to do it everyday alternating with yoga, but since both activities do not need much physical exertion, I wanted to incorporate them in my daily routine.
So far, so good. No lapses—yet.
Yoga
Entertainment
Music
Shows
Social
In this last bit, I am going to share some of the accounts (vlogs, blogs, productivity gram, study gram, etc.) that I discovered within last week.
Of course, some of these will be accounts that I already know to give way for them since the weekly blog post is new.
Blog
That is all for the week! It’s going to be shorter next week with, probably, no captions (maybe a few short ones). Plus there’ll be more recommendations especially with social media accounts.
