Review
An e-copy of the book has been provided by the publisher, Kodansha Comics, in exchange for an honest review.
“I’m not asking you to fall for me, too. It’s enough for me that you know how I feel.”
It has been a long while since I last read a yaoi manga and this book just reminded me how much I need these kind of works to energize myself and give a smile to my day.
Kimi wa natsu no naka is the story about two friends who both share the love for movies. On a day before summer break, Saeki confesses his crush for Wataru and the story picks off at that point.
If you’ve read BL manga, you’ll know for a fact that this type of storyline, flow, and almost the entire event that happened is pretty generic. However, it does not remove the fact that it is a cute and fluffy read to just keep you distracted. And it does that job really well. There is enough tension for you to keep on going, and even though it is a completely predictable story for typical yaoi readers, it still evokes a fun and exciting feeling.
Overall, I really enjoyed the book. The art style was fantastic; it feels homey and warm, and it really does pull you into that summer feel. The panels were good, and although I would like for it to have a slightly different, maybe more on an atmospheric feel, I really liked the placing and general pacing of it all.
