Top 5 Wednesday: Prettiest Covers

Welcome to another Top 5 Wednesday!

For this week's prompt, it is all books with pretty covers!

Most of what I have in this list doesn't really equate to the most creative; however, they are truly special in connection with the book's story and how these covers connected with me.

The Sword of Kaigen by M.L. Wang

A cover that provokes a strong tension and a powerful narrative, this alone tells a story and visual impact to the readers mind.

The atmospheric nature of the cover also invokes an interesting note of action that makes it exciting. In addition, the use of hues sets up a mood even before you read the story.

Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Maybe I am looking too much into it, or maybe I am not.

This cover, to me, already tells the story of disconnection and a certain calm before the storm.

The way each person paddling in the water is directed towards a certain point provides an imaginative narrative that already invokes a lovely story on its own.

Call Me By Your Name by André Aciman

Amongst the many covers of this novel, this one really caught my attention.

The melancholy feel of it tells a story already. It offers many possible outcomes from its use of sepia tones, playfulness with the shadow, and the pose of the model. You can easily tell the secret undertone of longing within the cover and it is magnificent.

Swimming in the Dark by Tomasz Jedrowski

If you’ve read this book, you already know how this cover encapsulates the story of this novel.

The simplicity and angle of the photo makes it ever so poetic. It begs to ask, “Where is the man looking?” or, perhaps, “What is he looking at?”

As I have said to probably everything in this list, the cover alone provides a narrative. Combined with the title of the book, this is such a well marketed book.

Little Book of Tiny Tales by Jeremy Ray

I am in love with this cover!

The intricate design makes it look sophisticated with a strong regal look that depicts a trove or a temple that contains such a variety of secrets.

And true to that, this book contains many a secret. Each requiring a certain sense of purpose in reading to connect to and discover.

Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly book meme hosted by the lovely Lainey and Sam. If you’re interested in participating in the topics and such, make sure to visit their Goodreads group page!
