The House Plant by Jeremy Ray
A truly particular novel that I stumbled upon Bookstagram and was luckily been provided by the author, Jeremy Ray.
This is definitely one of my favourites this year.
What If It’s Us by Becky Albertalli & Adam Silvera
What If It’s Us probably has the funniest story among this list. A Bookstagram friend — Shaine — introduced me to Froy Gutierrez and I discovered he narrated one of the character from this book. In that instance, I knew I needed to listen to the audiobook.
Also, I want to give a special mention to Jen (Levicorpvs Blog) for lending me her account in a specific audiobook platform that I cannot recall. But if not for her, I would not have been able to listen to this because I’m a cheap-arse. lol
Soul Lanterns by Shaz Kuzki
An interesting read in a sense that I was expecting a lighthearted Japanese literature. What I got was a deeply poignant story of history that was beautifully laid out for people to consume relatively easily.
What makes this book truly special is how it is written for a younger audience making the story – even with such a heavy topic – digestible
The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch
I cannot recall where I saw this book – perhaps from Daniel B. Greene – but I randomly started reading it and dang this book was soooooooooo good!!
The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller
The very first time I read this was also the very first time I experienced a travelling buddy reading – hosted by Dexter (Dexterous_Totalus). It was such a unique experience reading a book this good together with different people, annotating the novel and discovering the initial readers thoughts.
Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly book meme hosted by the lovely Lainey and Sam. If you’re interested in participating in the topics and such, make sure to visit their Goodreads group page!
