« Arrête avec tes mensonges » by Philippe Besson
As I am starting to test waters within French literature, it came to my attention that one of the writers I am very much curious about is actually French
With that in mind, I am putting his novel here in the hope that it will be part of my learning journey of the language. In addition, I firmly believe that M. Besson will be my very first favourite French writer (unless, of course, I already have one which I am not particularly aware of.
Just By Looking at Him by Ryan O’Connell
A very random book indeed.
I stumbled upon this book while scrolling through Goodreads. I was looking into having small conversations with people and in a gorgeous stroke of luck, saw this from Jon-Paul Vicari.
Things We Lost to the Water by Eric Nguyen
In a closely similar situation with Just By Looking at Him, I saw this book while scrolling through Bookstagram. And like any sane person, I fell in love with the cover. The metaphorical connotation of the cover in parallel with the title makes it such an enticing pick.
All We Shall Know by Donal Ryan
The only non-LGBTQ+ read in this list and the only one I read the synopsis, this novel sounded so promising. Aside from that, it has been highly recommended my by favourite Booktuber, Ariel Bissett.
Less by Andrew Sean Greer
Less is probably the most different collision amongst everything in this list.
I was looking into trying Pulitzer Prize winners and was instantly captivated by the artistry of the cover and the curiosity of this book’s title. We can say that both say much and say nothing at all, but I will never be able to confirm since I do not read synopsis.
And finally, the strong reason why I listed this in my TBR/wishlist is because this was categorized as LGBTQ+ and that is (recently) the very foundation of what books I am eager to read.

Thank you! I really want to read literature in their original writing and I’m starting with French. <3
